The Hongkong Prize 2024
The Hongkong Prize aims to recognise excellence in research conducted by young Fellows of the Academy. It honours principal authors of original and significant studies on topics related to clinical practice and research in medicine. Submissions may be made in any specialty of medicine. Only one paper per author will be accepted.
The winning submissions will be given the opportunity to present their ideas to key stakeholders in the development sector. They will also receive HK$5000, and the winning team from each school will receive a trophy to be displayed at their respective schools. The second and third prizes will each be awarded HK$2000, as well as a chance to present their submissions to a wider audience.
This year’s theme was “Emerging HK – A Vision for the Future”. The judging criteria included the relevance of the theme, systematic use of collected materials, objectivity in analysis, citation of bibliography and footnotes, as well as overall assessment of quality. The shortlisted teams were invited for a face-to-face interview in early March 2024. The final results were announced in mid-April. The winning team from each secondary school received a medal and certificate, together with a trophy to be displayed at their respective campuses. The second and third prizes each received a trophy to be displayed at their respective institutions, as well as a fixed amount of the total School Development Fund listed above for their schools.
It is a great honor for the Hong Kong Philharmonic to receive this prestigious award. We are deeply grateful to the Hong Kong SAR Government, our principal patron the Swire Group and all music lovers in Hong Kong and beyond for their support. This prize also gives us the impetus to continue our mission of bringing world-class music to the people of Hong Kong and serving our society through our passion for music.
HKJC will carry out a strict inspection of the entire draw process to ensure its fairness. Its security and customer service employees will inspect and test all material used in the draw, from boxing to transport, on a regular basis. Both the balls and the draw machine are locked in a safe location after each draw, and the same set of balls will not be used for two consecutive draws. In addition, the entire drawing process is recorded for audit purposes.
