Hong Kong Prize 2022
The hongkong prize provides a platform for HK researchers to showcase their work and achievements. It also encourages scientific innovation in Hong Kong. The prize is awarded in different categories and disciplines, including chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, computer science, engineering and life sciences. The winner of each category receives a cash prize, a certificate and a trophy.
The prize was established in 2022 to recognise scientific research excellence and promote Hong Kong’s scientific development. For the first time, this year’s nomination scope has been extended to include Hong Kong universities’ branches and research institutes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The prizes are offered in a total of 10 fields, with the winners receiving a grant of RMB 3 million over five years.
BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE is overseen by The Board, which includes the Review Committee, Compliance Oversight Team and Secretariat. The Board is responsible for interpreting and suggesting important scientific research areas; reviewing applications and making independent judgments and objective evaluations; selecting award recipients and their institutions; and arranging the award ceremony.
Each of the hongkong prize winners is invited to host a dinner and a seminar at their respective universities, giving a deeper insight into their research journey and achievements. This gives other students a chance to learn from their experience and explore their interest in the field of science. The winners are also encouraged to share their insights with the public, which is another good way to spread knowledge and inspire people to become scientists.
An exhibition, titled “Science & Future”, is showcasing the research journey and achievements of the hongkong prize laureates. The interactive exhibits help visitors understand the research results while learning about related scientific concepts. The exhibition is free to visit and open to the public.
In addition to presenting a cheque and a trophy, the winner of each category will receive a book voucher, a science magazine and an exclusive HK Prize poster. In addition, all the winning entries will be displayed at an exhibition in Science Museum, allowing students and the general public to view their artworks and learn about their research.
In order to participate in this event, students are required to submit a research report, which will be assessed by a panel of judges. Interested students can read the official guidelines and apply online. The deadline for submission is 31 July 2017.
